My name is Robina Barton. I am a driver guide offering a weekly schedule of day tours exploring Shetland in my comfortable Transit Tourneo MPV. I can also provide fully customised tours for up to 8 passengers to while away a few hours or fill several days.
I am 39 and have lived in Shetland for 10 years, working in heritage and tourism. Most recently I coordinated Shetland UNESCO Global Geopark. My interests include archaeology, geology, wildlife, art and the creative industries. I am accredited by the Scottish Tour Guides Association, I am secretary of the Shetland Heritage Association and I am a founder member of the Scottish Geodiversity Forum. I enjoy jogging, kayaking, climbing and a good Shetland dance!
With Selkie Ventures I want to help maximise the benefits that tourism can bring to Shetland. To this end I am working closely with community organisations, voluntary heritage groups and local businesses.
Where possible my tours include at least one visit to a volunteer managed heritage site and my charges include a donation for sites where no entry fee applies.
Many of my tours include a lunch provided by one of Shetland's small independent cafes. Lunch will typically include soup, sandwich, cake and your choice of tea or coffee, but can be adapted to cater for dietary requirements.
I would love to help you experience the magic of Shetland, and make the most of your time here. To find out more or make a booking browse my tours or get in touch. If I am unavailable I will be happy to recommend other tour providers who may be able to help.
